Apprenticeship Opportunities

Apprenticeships typically take three or four years to complete and traditionally cover skilled trade areas such as engineering and metal fabrication, automotive and mechanical, construction and building and electrical specialisations; as well as hairdressing, landscaping, hospitality and cookery.

An apprenticeship is a structured program with a combination of on the job and off the job training, where you gain hands-on skills and knowledge.

Upon successful completion, apprentices become a qualified tradesperson.

In Western Australia, students can receive advice from TAFE Job and Skills Centres which are run by the Western Australian Department of Training and Workforce Development. They are one-stop shops for careers, training and employment advice and assistance. Services are free, and accessible to all members of the community.  The centres are located on TAFE campuses throughout Perth and regional WA, with additional outreach locations for regional areas.

Each of the centres is staffed by people who can provide free professional and practical advice on training and employment opportunities including careers advice, apprenticeship, and training information.
